TASK?

(update) - Posted 23rd March ,2009

TASK is generic 'Pasa Slang' for the outward and visible sign of student engagement with the curriculum. The new curriculum changes the classroom focus FROM teaching TO learning The approach to learning Pasadena models in TASK is based on authentic inquiry. An Authentic inquiry approach is mandated by the new N.Z. curriculum, launched November 2007.

When discussing TASK with your child, look past the presenting of 'information' via PowerPoints, Web pages, etc however impressive. Don't look for the childs ability to remember and recite what they 'found out'.
INSTEAD ask 'What are you learning, Why are you learning this, How are you learning this, What will/has learning this changed, etc. Interrogate their understanding!
Self Learning, developing deeper understandings are key requirements for students today.

What TASK is your child currently involved in? What are they learning? What do they hope to learn? View your child's Inquiry log. Monitor their progress. Participate in their learning journey ('More about Task?' check our FAQ)

What is an O.L.E.?

(Online Learning Environment) - Posted 4th July ,2008

An OLE is a highly effective tool for supporting school-home partnerships. In many ways an OLE provides a 21st century gateway between school and home. An OLE allows children to bridge the gap between the work they do at school and their life at home. It gives parents timely access to information about their child’s learning and it provides a powerful vehicle for conversations about learning. It also enables busy parents and children to interact on a regular basis about learning.

.... an environment where Parents/whanau/caregivers can see quite clearly the learner’s dispositions towards their learning, their relationship with their friends, their teachers and their thoughts about how they see themselves, and provides a powerful environment for teachers/parents to observe the learners understanding!

An OLE is *the* key classroom component for use with the new curriculum, and in 21st century classrooms.

The OLE also allows all those that matter to the student to provide feedback.
